Impact Terra releases maize market report

Impact Terra is leveraging its connection to farmers and globally renowned partners to develop insightful reports on the agricultural market in Myanmar. Maize is one of Myanmar’s major crops and plays an important role in both the export and domestic economy. Impact Terra released its first market report presenting an overview of the maize value chain over the last five years in Southern Shan State.

Three types of reports are available: market reports with high level insights about specific sectors; market segmentation reports with more detailed insights on focus areas; and user profile reports of farmers customized for your company or organization. Please contact us for further information.

Golden Paddy launches Gold Coin Rewards Program

Golden Paddy will be integrating a Gold Coin Rewards Program that rewards users with digital tokens (gold coins) for using features and services of the app. The rewards program has six levels (i.e. member, silver, gold, jade, ruby, and diamond) based on the accumulation of gold coins, which correspond to virtual rewards. The details of the program will be available on the app and on Golden Paddy’s Facebook page. Impact Terra kicked off the Gold Coin Program on a recent trip to meet with our key farmers in Southern Shan State who are helping us to develop and test the app. We upgraded these farmers to silver level status as a gesture of appreciation for their invaluable support.
Wageningen University and Research strengthens local maize production protocol
Our agricultural expert partners from Wageningen University and Research (WUR) have helped us to validate and strengthen the local Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) protocol for maize initially developed by Myanmar's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI). The protocol is being used as the basis for an agrononic model that WUR is developing, which will eventually provide more specific advice for farmers. GAP advice on topics such as field management, crop protection, and harvest will also be available on Golden Paddy.

Golden Paddy expands community engagement with FLYN

Impact Terra is partnering with Future Light Youths Network (FLYN), a local community based organization that works in the Danu Autonomous region of Southern Shan, to extend our engagement with farmers in this area. FLYN and Impact Terra share a common mission to improve the productivity and livelihood of smallholder farmers while teaching them how to minimize negative environmental impacts. FLYN staff will help to increase digital literacy among smallholder farmers by training them how to download and use Golden Paddy.

The team continues to grow

Two new staff joined the Impact Terra team – Nan San Nyunt as Social Media Executive and Shune Lei Wah as Research Assistant. Both Nan and Shune are graduates of Yezin Agricultural University. Prior to joining Impact Terra, Shune worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Horticulture at Yezin Universtiy and Nan worked as an Agriculture Specialist for Shwe Kanbawza (SKBZ), a local NGO. We are excited to have them join our team.
